How to use Folder Browser to add images with a Document Type other than "Image" ?

Hi there, I want to add a Media Type folder from which I can upload multiple images (bulk upload) at once. Defining a Folder media type with a Folder Browser property works pretty well, but the thing is that the document types of the files added are always "Image". I want the files that are uploaded to use a different Document Type - one I created (so the images have additional fields I need).

    Thanks in advance

Hi Avraham and welcome to our :)

What version of Umbraco are you using? Since Umbraco 4.9 it's been possible to drag'n'drop files into a folder in the media section and Umbraco usually figures out what kind of type it is like Image or File if I remember correctly so I guess it should work out of the box unless you're trying to do something custom with using custom document types for the documents.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    /Jan

Hi Jan, thanks for replying. Yes, we are talking about a custom Document Type, so I do not think what you suggest will work. The question is how to make a file upload treat the file as my custom Document Type instead of a regular Image Document Type.

    Hi Avraham

Ok...don't know if this old information from the wiki might help?

    http://our.umbraco.org/wiki/how-tos/creating-custom-media-types

Or perhaps the stuff from this blogpost from 2014? http://dejanstojanovic.net/umbraco-cms/2014/april/upload-multiple-custom-media-types/

    /Jan

    Hello,

Why do you want extra properties on your media type? It isn't best practise because you'll get problems with the uploader like you're having. If you want additional info with your image it might be better to use Archetype for that.
