using SimpleMembership with Umbraco

Hi guys,

I wanted to know, can we use SimpleMembership with Umbraco? I see there are a few questions on it already but none of them have been answered: https://our.umbraco.org/forum/umbraco-7/using-umbraco-7/57361-SimpleMembership-as-UmbracoMembershipProvider

Would it be possible to use it in the new Umbraco as a membership provider?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
