I'm looking at using auth0 http://auth0.com/ as my "a zero-friction, infinitely extensible, enterprise-class web-scale cloud solution that makes identity easy".
They already offer plugins for wordpress, joomla, and sharepoint... so it would seem logical and relatively easy to incorporate into the Umbraco portfolio.
