We are preparing to implement load balancing for our Umbraco web server. We are currently running 4.11.10 with the following configuation:
4 cpu's
8gb memory
330gb standard disk space
OS Windows Server 2008 (only because their current production server is on 2008)
IIS server 2012
We are implementing load balancing because of sporadic occurances where the web server stops responding, (90-100% CPU spikes ulimately resulting in timeouts and 503 errors). We cannot pinpoint the cause. (We're not a alone it seems).
The first and most obvious solution is to upgrade Umbraco – the latest version of Umbraco 6.x apparently fixes most of the CPU spike issues.

To deal with the ongoing outages, we are installing load balancing on an F5 system. https://f5.com/glossary/load-balancer
We have reviewed the Umbraco documentation. https://our.umbraco.org/documentation/getting-started/setup/server-setup/load-balancing/
I am posting this in the hope that those who have installed load balancing might share their experiences and any pitfalls to watch out for.
Thanks.
