The benefits of using Umbraco Members are that you will be able to see the Members in the Umbraco back office (ie one place to administer your site and members)
Also you are able to easily 'protect' areas of your content, through the Umbraco back office, so if you had a section that only logged in members should be able see, you could 'right click', that page and choose 'public access' and limit which members or member groups were allowed to see that particular content, without having to write code.
There is also a built in property editor for a 'Member Picker' - if your site had a need for editors to select members for display in your content...
And you can use Umbraco Members in Relations, if you had the need to relate items in Umbraco, Media Folders etc to a particular Member.
Alot depends on the functionality of your portal and how and the level at which it interacts with Umbraco content to determine whether it will be best to import members into Umbraco, or leave them stored externally.
What are the benefits of Members
Hello,
We are building a new portal for customers with Umbraco. We already have users in a SqlMembershipProvider.
So my question is, should we migrate those users to Umbraco Members and what are the benefits of migrating those users to Umbraco Members?
Thanks in advance for any help :) Sjoerd
