Restrict access to property tabs in backoffice based on user

Good day! We are using Umbraco CMS for our new websites at work. My boss would like to be able to specify that one user group should only have the ability to view/browse nodes and then only be able to change settings under an SEO tab, like below:

    enter image description here

I found this old post at https://our.umbraco.org/forum/developers/extending-umbraco/2480-Controlling-Access-to-Tabs-in-the-UI, but I believe it is no longer relevant because I can't seem to locate this tab under Dashboard.config.

Any direction would be deeply appreciated. Have a great day!

    Jeremy

    Hi Jeremy

There isn't such functionality built into the core of Umbraco.

There was a package on Umbraco 6 called Attackmonkey Tab Hider but this isn't currently working with Umbraco 7

However there is a package called Backoffice Tweaking https://our.umbraco.org/projects/collaboration/backoffice-tweaking/

that appears to be trying to do the same in V7

I'm not sure if this works with the latest version of Umbraco, however the source code is available here: https://github.com/Alain-es/BackofficeTweaking

and so may be a good starting point to try to achieve what is required.

I tend not to hide tabs such as SEO for certain users, for me it's better to explain the uses of the properties to everyone, and what they should be used for and when to edit them. Use uEditorNotes to add explanations and any warnings: https://our.umbraco.org/projects/backoffice-extensions/ueditornotes/

    regards

    Marc
