Recommended ways of migrating content to new website with new structures

    Hi,

I'm currently planning a new website for a client and, although they are already running Umbraco v7, we are considering building a clean new site and migrating existing content into that site. The new site will have new, different document and data types so we will need to map and migrate existing structures into the new site's equivalent counterparts.

I'd rather avoid looping over all the different content types and mapping them but if that's the only way I guess we'll have to. Is there a "recommended" way or tool of tackling this kind of migration?

    Many thanks James

    Hi James,

CMS Import is awesome for this: https://our.umbraco.org/projects/developer-tools/cmsimport/

Make sure you install the Umbarco Data Provider also.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Amir,

Yes, it seems it will hopefully do most of what we need. I was already aware of the product but hadn't looked into it in detail. I will have to have a play with it.

    Thanks for the recommendation.

    James

Good luck and let me know if you need any help, or @rsoeteman who created the package has always been a great resource.
