Just wanted to confirm that if I sign up for Umbraco Pro then I also get a commerical license which allows me to re-brand the Umbraco UI as I see fit - is this correct.
So, in theory, I could write a product offering around Umbraco, re-brand the Umbraco UI, and sell my product on ?
It is correct that Umbraco 4.5 is under MIT license and yes you can rebrand Umbraco as your own system, but dont see why as Umbraco is getting a well known CMS that customers have trust in.
Licensing / Branding
Hi all,
Just wanted to confirm that if I sign up for Umbraco Pro then I also get a commerical license which allows me to re-brand the Umbraco UI as I see fit - is this correct.
So, in theory, I could write a product offering around Umbraco, re-brand the Umbraco UI, and sell my product on ?
Thanks,
Chris
At Codegarden it was announced that for version 4.5 the Umbraco UI now falls under the MIT license too (a good thing).
So not sure you need a pro license to re-brand the UI any more?
Would be good to get some clarification on this.

I think what Chris is asking is if he builds a product on top of umbraco can he sell that as a product.
For example uCommerce or SuperSimpleWebShop are both applications built within umbraco which are to be sold commercially.
So, Chris the answer (I believe) is yes, you are free to sell a product you have made using Umbraco.
