We are upgrading a production site from Umbraco 4.1 to Umbraco 4.5, and have tested the upgrade on our local copy, but are curious about whether or not it is possible to roll back if something unexpected goes wrong. Is this possible, and if so, are there any special instructions to note (DB schema changes, etc.)?
The easiest and safest way is to make a full backup of your SQL database and your website files. Then if something doesn't work out right you have a full backup ready to restore.
Rolling Umbraco 4.5 Back to 4.1

Hi,
The easiest and safest way is to make a full backup of your SQL database and your website files. Then if something doesn't work out right you have a full backup ready to restore.

4.1 was never released in a production-ready version so you shouldn't ever "roll back" to it
