Also I'm wondering if there are other suggestions for locking down Umbraco on shared hosting. For example is there anything I should do to secure web.config?
Since it's shared hosting I don't think I have access to run batch files or command lines. But, I can read the batch files and go in manually to change directory permissions through the hosting control panel.
Locking down Umbraco on shared hosting (Softsys)
Greetings all,
I'm wondering which directories need write access within an Umbraco install? I'd like to turn on write access for all directories that need it, and dis-allow write access for all others. I see the article at http://our.umbraco.org/wiki/install-and-setup/set-umbraco-folder-permissions-from-command-line lists several directories-- are these the ones that need write access?
Also I'm wondering if there are other suggestions for locking down Umbraco on shared hosting. For example is there anything I should do to secure web.config?
