I think you're referring to the PDF Preview package? It's using the free version of a component from TallComponents to create the preview, and their free version only allows up to 18DPI. If you purchase their paid version you could increase it.
To be honest I don't remember - I looked into this once a while ago.
I'm sure you just replace the DLL (TallComponents.PDFThumbnail.dll) and/or add some sort of license file they provide. Then when you insert the Macro there is a field for Quality DPI that you can adjust. You can adjust it now but the free component will restrict it to 18 no matter what.
