Where did you download Umbraco from? The path seems unusual. I find the easiest way to install the latest version is via the Microsoft web platform installer.
I would recommend installing the Runway starter package as a starting point. (Developer - Packages - B
If you have already set up document types, templates and published some content, just go to
The following link was very helpful in helping me install Umbraco from source code. That is where I found the path I specified. (I found nothing of this nature in the Umbraco documentation).
How do I access my published site
I installed umbraco - had a lot of grief but I think it works. Now I want to do these two tasks:
1.) Create a hello world page
2.) Type the url of my site in my browser and see my page. What url do I use???
By the way, I downloaded the source code and built it
My iis is configured to point to C:\inetpub\Umbraco\branches\4.1.0\umbraco\presentation
as the root dir. I access umbraco admin at http://umbraco.mydomain.com/umbraco/umbraco.aspx
That takes me to the admin page. I have no idea what to use for the url of my published site.
Sorry to have to ask dumb questions like these. I was hoping I would find answers in the newbie guide. Perhaps I missed it there too?
