    Moving site

    Hi

i installed umbraco on our webserver and it came in the folder test.soft-solutions.nl/umbraco

is there a way to move the installation to test.soft-solutions.nl ?

i'm making a guess here, but are there any files at all in the root directory? eg a default.aspx or a web.config, or is there just an /umbraco/ or is there others too - like /css /masterpages etc. if so it may be that the installation is correct,

however if that is the case it's all in an /umbraco/ folder and there is a /umbraco/umbraco folder it shouldn't be too hard to just cut & paste all the folders up one with little odds hth

ok so umbraco.aspx would normally live in a subfolder called umbraco - you would not normally expect this to be in the root folder but in a sub folder called umbraco, however this would not affect the site

your site can still be http://test.yourdomain.nl/mypages.aspx without the umbraco folder being in the root, this is just where the application files live

i thought you may mean that you had installed it to the /umbraco/ folder under the site, but if the files are where they are then that is where they should be

your root folder should look something like this

    19/06/2009  09:39               152 default.aspx
    11/11/2010  07:18            13,258 web.config
    11/11/2010  07:02    <DIR>          App_Browsers
    27/08/2010  12:31    <DIR>          App_Code
    26/11/2010  16:09    <DIR>          App_Data
    26/11/2010  11:33    <DIR>          bin
    11/11/2010  07:17    <DIR>          config
    11/11/2010  07:20    <DIR>          css
    11/11/2010  07:02    <DIR>          data
    11/11/2010  07:20    <DIR>          images
    11/11/2010  07:02    <DIR>          install
    26/11/2010  11:39    <DIR>          masterpages
    11/11/2010  13:34    <DIR>          media
    27/08/2010  12:31    <DIR>          python
    27/08/2010  12:31    <DIR>          scripts
    11/11/2010  07:17    <DIR>          umbraco
    11/11/2010  07:03    <DIR>          umbraco_client
    12/11/2010  14:04    <DIR>          usercontrols
    26/11/2010  11:33    <DIR>          xslt

if you don't have all these folders as well as /umbraco then may not all the files have been copied?
