Add existing ASP.NET website to Umbraco

    Hi there,

I am completly new to Umbraco or any other CMS and I did read the documentation and saw some video's but I cannot figure out how to add my existing ASP.NET website to Umbraco or add Umbraco to my ASP.NET website. I just want to use Umbraco to edit content for every page. Can anyone explain me how to do this?

    Some more information:
    - Using ASP.NET 2.0
    - Not using any Database (only created a MS SQL database for Umbraco)
    - Using Umbraco version 4.7

    Thanks in advance!

    Ronald

    Hi Ronald,

Welcome to world of umbraco. You will love this community for sure.

I know that some people will defenately guide you in right direction, I am adding my two cent though.

See there is no magical band or automated tool (as per best of my knowledge) that helps you in this.

You can do following steps though.

    1. Identify no of tempaltes you have in existing site and create them with propert doctype and hirarchy.
    2. Copy CSS and Javascript to appropriate folder.
    3. Move Images and other stuff to proper folder.
    4. Create home page using editor.  Check http://our.umbraco.org/forum/using/ui-questions/2954-how-can-i-add-styles-in-style-sheet-drop-down-of-WYSWING-Editor for this.

Let us know if you stuck at specifi point.

    Regards,

    Jigar
