I'm curious as to Jordon's luck installing Umbraco on a Shared Host - I have tried several times with Arvixe, using the WebPI - it NEVER works with ARVIXE, yet did so flawlessly on StormInternet's Plesk interface (in less than 15 minutes!!). Arvixe insists that the WebPI is hopeless. I've seen many stepbystep walkthroughs on installing Umbraco on a localhost (as opposed to remote) - but many involve WebPI or arcane .xsl files .... help!

The easiest way to install umbraco is to install Web Platform Installer from here http://www.microsoft.com/web/downloads/platform.aspx
Once that's installed you can choose Umbraco and it should be smooth from there.

its very easy to install umbraco in ARVIXE hosting.
step 1) Create Database Name and user
step 2) Create Website
step 3) click on created Website and it will open web site property. Go to Extension and select Asp.net 4.0
step 4) upload all umbraco files inside "wwwroot" directory using FTP program.
step 5) browser your site..............
............. and finally start installation........... of umbraco............
