If you're going to do it but you're a bit unsure then it might be worth it to make a copy of the v3 site and make a test-upgrade on that so you don't risk to mess it all up if something goes wrong.
If I remember correctly the upgrade path would be from v3 to v4.0.0 and then from 4.0 to 4.5 and finally from 4.5 to 4.7.
Is it recommendable to upgrade from v3 to v4.7?
I am considering to upgrade an old site v3 to the brand new v4.7.
I have found a couple of guides that shows the sql-changes that has to be made in the DB etc.
But I have the feeling that I will still have some old v3 stuff that will not make the upgrade to a full-blown v4.7 site.

Just a few pointer, which I hope you can use.

Hi Jan
I'm aware of the steps from 3.0 to 4.7.
I'm just worried that the 3 upgrades will leave the v4.7 site with some stuff from the earlier versions that will not make the final site a true v4.7.
This guy has a guide to upgrade v3 to v4
