    Upgrading from 3.0.6 to 4.7.0

    Hi Umbracians,

what is the right way to upgrade from 3.0.6 to the actual 4.7.0 ?

    I found this topic:
    http://our.umbraco.org/forum/getting-started/installing-umbraco/11416-Database-not-found!-error-during-upgrade-from-ver-306-to-451

    Lee Kelleher said:
"I copied the "bin", "install", "umbraco" and "umbraco_client" for each release - with the exception of 3.0.6 -> 4.0.1 where I manually updated the Web.config (and other config files). Then ran the upgrade installer for each one.  Its a long-winded process, but like I say it went very smoothly!"

    Then I found this manual:

    http://our.umbraco.org/wiki/install-and-setup/upgrading-an-umbraco-installation

In this manual I am told to copy the following folders and files:

    • app_data
    • /app_browsers
    • /app_code
    • /bin
    • /config
    • /data
    • /install
    • /umbraco
    • /umbraco_client
    • web.config
    • default.aspx

What is the right way to upgrade from 3.0.6. to 4.7.0 ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Thorsten

I think you should upgrade to 4.0.3 first, then to 4.5.2, then to 4.7.  That's just my opinion because I've found that sometimes the SQL upgrade scripts don't run properly if you skip too many major versions.

I've been doing a lot of 4.0.x to 4.7 recently and have some notes here:

    Thanks,

    Jason
