    Broken /umbraco/ page

I just installed Umbraco in WebMatrix, but something is wrong. the /umbraco/ page isn't loading correctly. I just get 2 unstyled headers "Content" and "Sections" with empty bullet lists, and none of the buttons do anything. Any clues?

It sounds like a permissions issue maybe? For more info, see here: http://our.umbraco.org/forum/getting-started/installing-umbraco/11727-Javascript-errors-and-no-stylesheet-after-451-install?p=0 the screenshot there matches your description. Follow Lee's instructions and you should be ok.

Thanks that screenshot is exactly what's happening. That's very helpful. One difference though, which may be because I has simplified sharing enabled (the default for this version of XP): The user group IIS_IUSRS doesn't exist. I'm not sure if I should create the user or reinstall WebMatrix now that simplified sharing is off. I would expect that user group to be created by default on a successful install.

So, should I create the user, or do a fresh install of WebMatrix/Umbraco?

Ok, tried reinstalling WebMatrix (and IIS 7.5 Express, .NET Framework, etc.), but there still isn't a user group IIS_IUSRS. Am I supposed to create this user group, or is its absense a sign of a larger issue?

Currently, the only user groups are Administrators and SYSTEM. Perhaps the built-in user accounts are different in my version of IIS (7.5 Express)?

    Hiya,

Sorry for not getting back sooner! Glad you got it working with IIS7. For Webmatrix, the user is "NETWORK SERVICE" I think!

    :)
