Installing 4.7 in a Virtual Directory

I've done quite a bit of searching on this topic but don't see any documentation or step-by-step instructions on how to install Umbraco to a Virtual Directory. Does this documentation exist or can anyone let me know how to go about it?

Essentially, I need the CMS to reside separately from the website so that the URL to the CMS is different from the website. We need to have SSL on the login for the CMS, but not on the site.

    Thanks for any help!

It's difficult.. And to be honest I could never get it to work correctly. Is there any way that you can just work on different (sub)domains?

If not: Could you explain exactly what you would expect? Like:

http://mysite.com goes to my non-umbraco site and http://mysite.com/umbracoInstance goes to your Umbraco site, something like that? Just not sure what you're trying to achieve here and why.

    Thanks for your reply Sebastiann,

This is a rather unique request from our client, any solution would be worth investigating. There is a requirement that the Umbraco backend use SSL.

SSL can not be added to http://mypublicsite.com but they have a site that has SSL support where they would like to setup a virtual directory to point to the Umbraco instance - http://apps.sslsite.com/mypublicsite

I could be going about this in a backwards manner.

    Thanks again.
