    New install - add new property fails.

    Just installed Umbraco on a new machine... All seems fine except that when I try to add a new property to a document type...

    Umbraco reports that the property is saved, but it doesn't appear - vanished!

    I guess it's either a file or a database permissions problem (or me just missing something obvious) - can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Please log forum bugs in the correct forum.

    For answering your problem can you provide the following:

    * Version of Umbraco used (eg: 4.0.2.1)

    * Install method (eg: Web PI)

    * Database type

    * OS

    slace, please can you tell me which section is for forum bugs?

    I can see:

    Getting Started->Installing umbraco, Questions about runway and modules
    Using->UI Questions

    Developers
    ->API Questions, Xslt, Extending Umbraco
    Meetups and usergroups->Suggest a meetup
    Jobs->Jobs
    our.umb dev forum->bugs,Features
    Templating->Templates and document types

    I can't see the topics in any forum, so I don't know which forum is for forum bugs, is it our.umb dev bugs? (that section seems to be for umbraco bugs rather than forum bugs, but I can't tell)

    For the install/add new property "issue" :
    Umbraco: 4.0.1
    Install Method: Manual
    Database: SQL Server 2005 Express
    OS: Windows Server 2003

    This is a "remote" install, when I installed on my personal machine (Same config. as above, but WinXP) everything seemed fine.

    It's not a real bug, it's a feature :). I ran into this as well when I first started using Umbraco. I think you forgot to supply an "alias" for you property. Within Umbraco "alias" always is a mandatory field. I guess because in the database all relations work on the "alias" field. I also experienced what you mention regarding the "saved" message and nothing being saved. After adding the alias everything worked fine for me...
