Umbraco and Mono: Can it be done?

    Greetings,

The Umbraco project recently caught my eye with what it can do. I'm a big Mono/Linux kind of guy, and host all of my personal and business websites in a Linux environment.

I wrote an article on my ambition for making Umbraco work with Mono on Linux. I know others have "tried" to make it work, but this article really goes in depth on where Mono and Umbraco clash.

Please feel free to comment on the article or contact me with feedback. Even just today, another major bug that was blocking progress was fixed in Mono. I'll continue to update and post on the progress of Umbraco and Mono.

    -Kevin

Great article Kevin, thank you so much for going indepth of what issues are currently there. It's great to hear that many of the bugs I ran into while trying umbraco and mono just a year ago is now gone.

Jep, great article Kevin - also good to see that you're actively pursuing bugs and commit fixes. I lost interest when I encountered the ApplyStyleSheetSkin-bug and didn't really want to mess with the Mono-source due to a lack of insight. I certainly hope the Mono-team will give the asp.net part a big overhawl sometime soon.

Regarding uppercase/lowercase filename issues. Michael Hutchinson of Mono ASP.NET fame pointed me towards this page:
