    Installation Required?

I've been working with a client who's site uses Umbraco. I've created and edited many pages for their existing site. They now wish to create a new site with a different URL. Is another installation of Umbraco required? If so can it be installed on the same server? Is there an additional license fee?

If a new installation is not required can an additional Masterpage be created? And how would a URL point work in regards to making sure that the new pages are accessed only from the new URL?

Thanks for all the help in advanced!

    Phillip

    Hi Phillip,

you could add the new site to the existing umbraco installation, but would only do that if both sites are from the same client... If not, do use another umbraco installation.

Yup, you can create as many masterpages as you wish, for each of your sites...

Just make sure that, if you're using the same installation for both sites, to set host names on the top level nodes.

Let me know if you need more info.

    Cheers,

    /Dirk

    Thanks Dirk!

So if I understand correctly, I can create a new Master Document Types as needed as well as templates for the new site. And then create a NEW Home directory within the "Content" folder that holds the current site directory and Recycle Bin, correct (I assume these are the "Top Level Nodes")?

Once the site is build & setup within Umbraco how can we "point" the URL to the new directory? I know that within the NEW directory we would manage hostnames, but how does the new DNS point resolve that is it to access THIS directory rather than the other site directory?

    Thanks

    P
