How to manually install and configure Umbraco 5.0?
Hi there,
I'm new to Umbraco. Does anyone know how can i install umbraco without using web matrix and not installing through the web. I need to create an installer that can be run locally in my pc. Therefore, may i know where can i get the info on what actually done at the background when the web installer or web matrix is doing to install the umbraco. How can i set the IIS and database to make the Umbraco run successfully. Is there any sql script that i can run to set up the database? Also, is there any downloads for that i can use as the base of web application for IIS virtual directory? I'll install it in window server 2008. Any suggestion or idea would be helpful.
The installation is very straight forward, but please also make sure you have AVG disabled (if you are running AVG) as this caught me out initially. I believe the team is looking into this.

Hi Cynthia,
to install manually please follow the instructions located on github on this page:
https://github.com/umbraco/Umbraco5Docs/blob/5.0.1/Documentation/Getting-Started/Installing-Umbraco-Manually.md
Here are some other methods for installation if you have no luck with that:
https://github.com/umbraco/Umbraco5Docs/tree/5.0.1/Documentation/Getting-Started
The installation is very straight forward, but please also make sure you have AVG disabled (if you are running AVG) as this caught me out initially. I believe the team is looking into this.
