    Umbraco throws a 500 error shortly after installation

    Hello all,

    I'm trying to run the latest Umbraco version (4.8.1), on my Windows 2008 R2 server, and right after installing it and then browsing the site (I'm using DNS to browse the site rather than a hosts file), I get a 500 internal server error which only gives me the information that "There was a problem with the resource, and it cannot be displayed". What could I have missed; the installation is running under an application pool with the network service account, and I made sure to unblock the file before I extracted it. Any feedback would be good. Thanks.

    Hi Katherine

    Is the app pool still running when you get this error?

    Have you checked the event viewer on the server to see if it provides some further information?
