After upgrade to 4.8.1, still get upgrade message about 4.7.2

I recently upgraded an umbraco installation from 4.7.1 (I think), to 4.8.1. It went smoothly. The about box now says I have v4.8.1.
However, whan logging in to the back end I still get the old upgrade bubble meassage, about a potential security issue that will be fixed if I upgrade to 4.7.2.
I have not noticed anything else strange after the upgrade.
Could this be a symtom of a more serious error with my upgrade?
If not, how do I stop this message from appearing?
