    Windows 8 Pro?

I'm thinking of getting a new PC. Is there any reason to go with the Pro version of Windows 8 for what will be mostly a .NET development machine? I'm assuming SQL Server, IIS & Visual Studio will all work OK with the standard edition?

    Cheers

    Paul,

Depends what you intend doing with the machine. SQL Server, IIS and Visual Studio will all work fine with Standard Edition. If you want to log onto a corporate domain though you will fail with Standard edition. Personally I don't install any dev stuff on my home machine anymore but instead create VM's for my dev work.

    Windows 8 version comparison

Ooh forgot to say if you have a version of Windows 7 then you can upgrade for £25.

Thanks Mark. It's unlikely I'll be logging onto a corportate network with it so I guess I'll stick with the standard edition for now and upgrade later if I need to.

    Paul,

No worries sounds like a perfectly acceptable plan ;-)
