It's not as easy as maybe it should be for a 'point' update, but that said, the upgrade path is well documented on each release with notes about the changes. The main things to look for are config file changes - there are several of these and they're best done with a tool like WinMerge so that you can clearly see any differences between your current config files and the upgraded ones.
The other sticky point is if you're using uComponents since parts of this were incorporated into the Umbraco core in v4.8. Again though, it's documented and there's a good link in the upgrade notes on v4.8 to explain how to deal with it.
I've heard of people doing multi-step upgrades in one go, but personally I'd do 4.7 -> 4.8 -> 4.9 -> 4.10.1 -> 4.11.1 to be on the safe side.
Basically, take a few hours out and do it by reading the upgrade notes carefully throughout and you should be fine.
Let us know if you have any issues, and good luck!
upgrading 4.7 to 4.11
Will it be difficult to upgrade between two versions?
