    How to Move umbraco site to new hosting

    Hi, i want to move my site to another hosting but dont know how. I have no contact with those who have made my site for me and therefore dont know so much detail. The only thing i have is access to the control panel. Can anyone help me?

    do you know what control panel it is?

    the basic elements will be

    1. backup the database on the old server, copy to new server

    2. copy the entire www directory to the new server

    3. restore the database

    4. modify the file permissions on the www directory on the new server

    5. update the web.config to point to the new database

    6. pray ;-)

    @Elena Welcome to our!

    Jay mentioned all the things to be aware of above - the only thing I'm going to add is that you should be aware of the database versions. If you're using a newer version on your current hosting and an older version is being used on the new host it could give some trouble.

    But if not then you should be good to go following the steps above.

    I am in the same situation as Elena Fursa. Is there no Umbraco software to be installed before copying the database and www directory to the new server?
