Installation Guide for Microsoft Platform Installer

I am attempting my first Umbraco installation.

It has been time consuming and frustrating so far!

As far as I have read, the recommended installation method is MPI. So I did that. After several issues with SQL I finally got the installation wizard finished. But now when the browser opens I see a .Net error.

    Question 1

Where can I find the Installation Guide for MPI?

On the following URL I see guides for the other less recommended methods. But not for the main recommended one.

    http://our.umbraco.org/documentation/Installation/

    Question 2

    How to solve this error

The route URL cannot start with a '/' or '~' character and it cannot...

I got it when the installer redirect me to what I guess is the last step of the installation.

    http://my-server/my-installdir/install/default.aspx

    I'm using Win7 with IIS7.

    Thanks.

PD this forum system is kind of buggy under IE10 and Chrome. I have several problems with signing up and editing text.

    Hi try: my-server/my-installdir/install/umbraco

Have you tried using IIS instead.  There is a tutorial here ;).  I am still working on it but it will work.  http://www.charlesafford.com/

Do you mean the web platform installer?

Did not notice that :).  I assumed he meant WPI.

I believe I have found the same issue:

The route URL cannot start with a '/' or '~' character and it cannot contain a '?' character.
    Parameter name: routeUrl
