    New installation umbraco 4.11.8 has an "ugly" start page

    New installation umbraco 4.11.8 has an "ugly" start page. Otherwise it is working well. Does anybody know a solution of this because my client is a bit picky about it?

    Hi Johan

    First try to set customErrors to Off in the mode attribute in web.config file.. 
    Then you will get a more precise error description....

    This problem is only on the first view when loggning in the umbraco admin section (Umbraco version4.11.8):

     

    Server Error in '/' Application.

    You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '30 USERID, NODEID, DATESTAMP, LOGHEADER, LOGCOMMENT FROM UMBRACOLOG WHERE USERID' at line 1

    What sort of data types proerties do you have on your nodes?  Have you tried republishing the site.  May be doing a cache refresh.  there is a url (i cannot remember) /umbraco/clearcache??

    ahhhhh ok, yea i have never got those to work.  I would uninstall the package, if you dont have information in Umbraco and then reinstall it from a zip which can be found at:

    http://our.umbraco.org/projects/starter-kits

    Which version of Umbraco?

    ah ok :).  Well have a look around the forum for issues and at http://our.umbraco.org/forum/ourumb-dev-forum/bugs

    I would try what i said above.  If not try asking on Twitter (#umbraco).  :)

    Have you alos updated the dlls for teh security patch? http://umbraco.com/follow-us/blog-archive/2013/5/1/security-update-two-major-vulnerabilities-found.aspx

    this fixed my problem:

    renaming /Umbraco//dashboard/LatestEdits.ascx  to /Umbraco//dashboard/LatestEdits_old.ascx
