I need the index rebuilt because the folder is empty and when I go into Umbraco admin the nodes are all blank apart from the first node. This happened before and I removed the index files and all was fine. I didnt need to run reindex lasttime though. Any ideas?

Permissions error, host resolved the crashing. Although the reindexing happens, the screen never changes.
Having the same problem... Moved an Umbraco site from one server to another, and now I'm friggin stuck with this horrible situation! :-(

Having the exact same problem here
Its "Normally" a permissions fix..
- Clear the index folder of files
- CHeck with host that permissions are all still intact ( sometimes these get reset on shared hosting)
- run reindex.aspx
