    Downgrading Umbraco version - How?

    Hi folks,

Wondering if anyone can advise how I would go about downgrading my version from v6.0.6 to 4.8 or 4.7

    Many thanks.

Don't think it's possible...but why do you want to do that anyway ?

V6 isn't compatible with any of the packages or plugins I'd hoped to use and it's proving to be more hassle than it's worth.

    Hi Dave,

Appreciate your help, but I'd prefer not to have to list every package I'd like to use, I'm really just looking for the advice in the title.

If it's not possible then so be it.

    Thanks.

    <Shameless plug> you could try uSync</shameless plug>

Downgrading isn't what it was meant for but it can produces files in the same format at either end, if you install uSync on a 6.1 install (backing everything up before you try this of course)it will spit out the doctypes, macros, stylesheets, etc into the uSync folder if you copy that over to a 4.8 install with uSync on it, it will have a go a recreating the doctypes and everything

its not so much a downgrade as a re-install with the bits put over the top, but i don't think you will ever get an actual downgrade working.

Still..can you post the packages you want to use. Seems strange that none of them will work.

Thanks Kevin, it's looking like a fresh install might be best, but cheers.

Hi Dave, I'm just not sure what the use of posting them would be.
One or two are meant to be fully compatible but create issues, like Contour, for example, which seems to bork web.config on uninstall.
I'm really just trying to avoid greater issues down the line for other people on my team, and I'm basically not confident in v6.

Strange..Contour does seem to run smooth here on a v6 install. Which version of contour are you using ?
