I want to upgrade 4.11.10 to 6.1.4 and let the users to work with it some time on staging server. I am planning to upgrade database structure and populate data manually, so the old columns will stay for a while, so the users could switch to the old Umbraco instance in case something goes wrong with the new one. Once the test period is completed I will remove the old columns and delete the old Umbraco instance.
Will it be possible to keep working both 4.11.10 and 6.1.4 with the same database, providing it has columns and data needed by both instances?
