I am having a bit of a headache here! I am a newbie STILL and trying to get my first site live. Problem is that I used my Umbraco training site as the basis for my first site and left the DB name as UmbracoTraining. Then when I uploaded my files to the live server I created a DB with a different name and different user and now I'm trying to restore the UmbracoTraining.bak on top of the new DB. This isn't working. Is there any way to sort this out so that I can keep the new DB name and user (don't really want to have the client's DB called UmbracoTraining and I don't really want it to have my master username and password either).
Any help would be great. I will get the hang of this at some point!!
Also any suggestion of how I should have done it to avoid all this agro!
You shouldn't need to create a new database to restore your backup over the top off. Remove your new one and use the 'Restore Database' option in sql server management studio. You'll be able to specify the new database name using this option.
