It might not be the right place to ask, but I feel lucky!
Let's say that I install Umbraco on an ASP.Net server, but I have wordpress blogs on a linux server as well. I need to provide an interface to users on my site, build with Umbraco, to manage their blogs. Is it possible for Umbraco to talk with the linux server? I think our dev will use Ruby to manage the installations of those blogs and all on the linux server.
I'm not a dev and I suck at server stuff, but I'll try hard to understand and pass on the info to the dev, and I'm sorry if I make no sense!
If you want to have blog funtionality on your Umbraco site I think itmight be worthfor you to takea look on this package: uBlogsy With this package you can create a blog inside your Umbraco website. The blog has lots of the functionality that is known from Wordpress.
And there is alsothe option to adda packageto enable comments on your blog by using this package. uCommentsy By using these packages you´re are keep everything into your Umbraco installation.
And you should be able to import posts and so on from your Wordpress blog with the CMSImport package.
I´msure thatAnthonyis veryhappy toanswer questions related touBlogsyifyou have any.Or ifyou have otherquestions about anyofthe packagesI have mentionedI think you shouldget in touch withthe creatorof the package.
If you don´t build your blog or blogs in Umbraco I hope this post at least has been informative to get an idea of how many great packages there is for Umbraco.
Thanks for the info, but I'm actually stuck with that setup. I like Umbraco, but if it's not possible I'll have to use another cms for that projet as I already have lots of users with blogs on a linux server. Wanted to know if I could have my site on an asp.net server but still could talk with that unix server.
