We have an Umbraco site that has roughly 50-100 users at any one time (according to Google Analytics Realtime) and around 10000 visitors a day. The site performs pretty well most of the time. But occasionally (usually once every 24 hours) we get a massive processor spike that lasts for several minutes and causes the site to grind to a halt. I suspect this is something to do with page publication but was wondering if the server spec we have is up to the job or if there is something else we need to be looking at?
Hosting Umbraco - processor spikes
Hi
We have an Umbraco site that has roughly 50-100 users at any one time (according to Google Analytics Realtime) and around 10000 visitors a day. The site performs pretty well most of the time. But occasionally (usually once every 24 hours) we get a massive processor spike that lasts for several minutes and causes the site to grind to a halt. I suspect this is something to do with page publication but was wondering if the server spec we have is up to the job or if there is something else we need to be looking at?
1. IIS Server - 6GB RAM 2 x 2.67GHz processors
2. DB Server - 8GB RAM 1 x 2.67 GHz processor
Both on VMWare
Thanks
Dan
