    Installing Wordpress under Umbraco

We are trying to install Wordpress on the same server as an Umbraco site. The goal is to deploy the Wordpress blog to www.UmbracoSite.com/blog.

    Has anyone sucessfully done this?

We have have installed Wordpress. The blog renders as expected. Our problem is that we cannot access the Wordpress back office pages needed to manage the blog. For example www.UmbracoSite.com/blog/wp-admin.php did not work as expected.

    Hi Loyan,

You can´t install Wordpress and Umbraco on the same server the reason for that is not possible is because is uses to different technology. Umbraco uses ASP.NET, and Wordpress are using PHP.

So for running Umbraco you need a ASP.NET webhotel, and for running your Wordpress blog you need to have a PHP webhotel with MySQL database. You can see the minimum for requirements for running a Wordpress blog https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/

Depending on what Umbraco version you are using there are some blog packages for Umbraco, where you can create a blog in Umbraco. I have linked to the blog packages I know.

Here are some options for a blog with Umbraco but as I said it depends on what Umbraco version you are using.

    Articulate: http://our.umbraco.org/projects/starter-kits/articulate

    SmartBlog: http://our.umbraco.org/projects/starter-kits/smart-blog

    uBlogsy: http://our.umbraco.org/projects/starter-kits/ublogsy

If you have an Wordpress blog with some old post, that you want to transfer to one of the blog package above if you decide to use one of them instead of WordPress, you can use Soeteman Software´s CMS import by this package you can export old blog posts and import them again in Umbraco.

You can see more about the CMS import here: http://our.umbraco.org/projects/developer-tools/cmsimport

Another option would having your Umbraco installation on one domain, and your blog on another domain (PHP webhotel) and the make a link from you Umbraco site to the blog.

Hope this helps, if you have any futher questions keep asking.

    /Dennis

    Dennis,

Thank you for your reply and attention.

We do have Wordpress on a Windows server under Umbraco.

    http://villadeamore.com is an Umbraco site.

    http://villadeamore.com/blog/ is Wordpress

I cannot say I have installed Wordpress on Windows myself or used this resource at http://www.microsoft.com/web/wordpress personally. But I have worked with Wordpress installs on Windows. I am confident that Wordpress is viable on a Windows server.

Has anyone succesfully got it working under an Umbraco site?
