    virtual machine & umbraco

    i have ubunto and create virtual machine XP

    can i install umbraco in virtual machine?

    Yes of course. Just remember to use a tool like EasyIIS or IISAdmin to switch between your local sites (in Windows XP you can only have one site running).

    Yes, if you got Windows XP Professional, install Internet Information Server 5which can be added though the control panel or if you only got XP Home, install Ultidev Cassini Webserver http://ultidev.com/products/Cassini/ . Works fine.

    Sure, you can have umbraco installed on a virtual machine with xp as os. If you're on an xp machine, do install IISAdmin from jetstat to allow for multiple root web on your system. Rest of installation can be found on the wiki.

    I need to install 4.6.1 on a virtual machine running Windows 2008 R2 x64 IIS7. Anything different I need to be aware of compared to an install/development straight off the server?
