    This is an impressively vague question, are you:

    • Using umbraco 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2.1, 4.0.3 or something else?
    • Is this a clean install of Umbraco or an upgrade?
    • Are you sure you have the umbraco.providers assembly in your /bin/ folder?
    The more information you provide the easier it is to solve a problem :)

    Sorry, I left work last night and thought - what an idiot - I didn't give much detail.   Anyway................

    Trying to install umbraco 4.0.3 on godaddy.    So far I've.........

    1. set permission to write for all files

    2. made it to step 4 of the install and then got that error. 

    changed the passwordFormat to "Clear" instead of "Hashed" - no go

    removed the passwordFormat as directed in some umbraco forum post and - no go

    so Now I'm stuck.  I'm out of ideas........any thoughts?
