    Installing umbraco locally

    Hi folks,

I've done a bit of googling on this but not overly experienced with windows. Basically, I'm looking to install v7 locally on my windows 10 laptop. I've used webmatrix but it freezes trying to install visual studio. Can someone point me in the direction of installing manually not using webmatrix?

    Thanks in advance. Darren

    Hi Darren,

Try to see this documentation about how to install Umbraco manually using IIS or IIS Express

    https://our.umbraco.org/documentation/getting-started/setup/install/install-umbraco-manually

    Hope this helps,

    /Dennis

That's done the trick - is it the same for installing an existing site from a back-up?

    Hi Darren,

Yes you can set up old sites like this too if you just have the files and the database too.
