Newbie - Umbraco in VS 2013/15 Community Edition?

    Hi there,

I'm just starting with Umbraco and wondered whether I can use it with Visual Studio 2013 or 2015 Community Edition?

Great to hear from anyone who can help! :)

    Regards and thanks.

    1. Yes, you can use community edition (anything higher than VS2010 can be used).
    2. The automated spam system is very much imperfect. :)

    Hello Sebastiaan,

Many thanks for your confirmation about the VS versions.

As for the spam, it was my first post ever with the best of intentions so I wondered what I had done to trigger the warning! :)

    Regards.

DIdn't I see that there are intellisence issues with using <7.3 in community 2105, due to vs2015 being native mvc5

I've better results sticking with vs2013 for u7.2.x

@Gazley To be honest, we are blocking all first posts and manually approve them. The spammers use super cheap human labor to quickly fire of spam and it was impossible to detect and manage. It's much easier for us to approve someone who is not an actual spammer. Hope we find a better solution at some point.

@Mike Yes, intellisense is a bit wonky in VS15 but that can be fixed by upgrading to MVC 5: https://umbraco.com/follow-us/blog-archive/2015/7/29/upgrading-your-umbraco-site-to-mvc5-and-webapi2
