    Aargh! Umbraco 7.1.4 to 7.2.x upgrade nightmare

    I must be on my 7th or 8th attempt at this, and it simply won't work. I copy over the /bin, /Umbraco and /UmbracoClient folders from the newly downloaded version (tried 7.2.4 and 7.2.8), then merge the config files – which could do with more (or some) documentation – then browse to the site and see the 'Upgrading Umbraco' screen. This is where it all goes wrong: after clicking 'Continue' I always get the 'Error during installation' screen saying 'See the log for full details (logs can typically be found in the AppData\Logs folder… which is where they are, but give no clue as to what's gone wrong.

    There should be an UmbracoTraceLog.txt file in that folder.

    If there isn't then it could suggest a permissions issue, typically you'll just need Network Service but as a precaution I give IUSR and IIS_USRS all with modify permissions
