    How to move Umbraco from one PC to another PC? Please help.

    Backup database and files, restore on another computer, then set IIS

    Hi,

    1. - Backup database on pc 1 and restore on pc 2 (Make sure to also move logins/users from one db to another)
    2. - Move complete umbraco instance to other pc (copy 'n' paste action from one pc to another).
    3. - Configure iis to point to new umbraco instance
    4. - Make changes to web.config to point to new database
    5. - Browse umbraco instance on pc 2
    6. - Go to content section and republish entire site

    I just tried this and encountered a really wierd error. The website runs just fine but when i log in to the umbraco admin interface there are no content nodes or any other nodes under any of the tabs for that matter. Any guess on how to solve this?

    Most probably a permission error (Happens quite a lot when moving files from/to new server, and especially when using ftp). So, double/triple check permissions on the target server. Also check this out to reset your permissions on the target server.
