    A little installation help

    Hi all,

I really hope you can help a newbie!...are there any step by step resources/guides on how to install umbraco onto 000webhost.com??

I've managed to upload the umbraco zip file, extract it, but when i go to my website to configure the installation etc i just get a list of all the folders and files that are part of the installation....i don't get an installation wizard!

Please help...i'm trying to make a basic website for my Scout group and have failed at the first hurdle!!

    Thanks in advance!

You are probably looking for install directions for shared hosting more than a specific web host.  On codeplex there are some install directions as well on the wikis on this site. Make sure your hosting allows for .net application hosting.  I brief glance at their plans doesn't show .net.

    Thanks Chris,

Do you recommend a host that has .net??

As it will be for a charity site, ideally i don't want to have to pay for it?!

    Thanks again

It's not free but discountasp.net has always been a good hosting provider and fairly inexpensive compared to others.  They are running a $5/month plan right now through the end of the month.  SQL hosting is extra.
