At first I wanted it to be in a subfolder but it gave me errors so I just moved everything into the root folder and it installed ok. But now when I go here http://localhost/login.aspx in dosn't show the splash image at the top. When I try to start Umbraco it creates a new window that looks just like the one I came from but it just keeps on refreshing forever. I don't know what's wrong with it. Any Idea's?
Do you have a popup blocker in place. If you go the http://localhost/umbraco it will display options of browse website or restart umbraco. It may be blocking the popup. localhost/login.aspx shouldn't go anywhere. Did you mean localhost/umbraco/login.aspx?
Weird things happening just after install

Just to clarify I also can't go to http://localhost/umbraco because It does that same thing. I can't really go anywhere.
Were you able to actually install Umbraco successfully? Did you get to the final step of the installer without errors?

Go to http://localhost/umbraco/umbraco.aspx which should redirect to the login and then from there to the admin. No pop-ups.
