Firstly, how did you install Umbraco, using the Web platform installer or manually?

To me there's probably 2 possible issues, either your Permissions are incorrect, or the packages are not compatable with the version of Umbraco you are using.

Do you know if you are using the latest version? (Umbraco 4.7 at time of writing)

I used the manual installation method. version 4.7
Everything went smoothly. I can create my own document type and contents as well.
But package installation is just not working for me. :(

I've got a feeling CWS does not work with 4.7, that's why you're having problems.

What other packages have you tried? I know it's not very clear about which packages work on which versions..

I just thought that it's a good place to start for me to get familiar with umbraco.

It is a great place to get started, unfortunately I don't think there's a version that works right now.

You could always grab the 4.5.2 version of umbraco from here http://code.leekelleher.com/umbraco/archive/ and install CWS on that (not ideal!)

I installed version 4.5.2, and successfully got the CWS package installed. All the files were succcessfully copied.

But the page came out like this... Any idea what went wrong?
