can umbraco be used for a community website

Hello fellow developers, i wonder if Umbraco is suited for a community site, with multiple blogs.

I love the member and content management for the umbraco back-office,.. but are there packages which can offer the some of the same functionality for the front-end... hmm..

I've searched the projects folder, and found

    blog - http://our.umbraco.org/projects/collaboration/blog-4-umbraco

    member - login
    http://our.umbraco.org/projects/website-utilities/ulogin
    http://our.umbraco.org/projects/website-utilities/razorlogin

But no community site packages, or member subscription packages for that matter ,.. ..

I't would be interesting to hear your opinion, before i start programming like mad and making one from scratch (c:

Well this probably isn't what you're looking for, but there is a forum which also is kind of a community: http://our.umbraco.org/projects/website-utilities/nforum.

As a side point, I would use uBlogsy over Blog4Umbraco.

    Hey,

It's just my opinion, Blog4Umbraco has been developed over a few years by different developers, it uses external tables for comments and has been very buggy in my experience. I'm sure it can be made to work fine, but it's frustrated me every time I've tried to use it.

uBlogsy has been built from the ground up in the latest version of Umbraco, I guess it's not so mature but it's the one I'd go for moving forwards.
