    What exactly is an Umbraco runway?

    Hi,

    I keep seeing the term “Runway” all over umbraco tutorial.

    What exactly is a “Runway”? Why the name is Runway?

    Hi there, 'Runway' is just the name that the default starter-kit package used to be called pre Umbraco 4.6
    I think if you install a starter kit now, it's just called Simple Website, Personal Website, Business Website etc. depending on what flavour you choose from the install screen.

    Why the name Runway? I guess it was just a cute name from the Umbraco team, because it helps you get a website off the ground (i.e up and running) without any dev work.

    Should I assume RunWay is

     

    • A name for specific group of starter kits
    • or it is a specific starter kit
    • or, it is just another name for starter kits?

    Hi again Allan,

    I think you can safely assume:

    Runway is the original name for the UmbracoHQ starter kit (of which there was only one) before Umbraco 4.6 came along.
