Recommendation for a Responsive Web Design Template/Starterkit/Module please

I am wanting to build a new site from scratch and am looking for recommendations for a Responsive Web Design Template/Starterkit/Module. I am building a e commerce web site for selling various products. I am happy to go with free for "affordable" alternatives.  I want site to render across Windows Phone, IPhone, Android, Windows PC and Mac. Any suggestions appreciated.

    Hi Terry

Have you considered finding some templates for your project here? http://html5up.net/

    Thanks Jan,

Yes they are very nice, however I was hoping to use something that got me a little closer to an online store.

Somthing like this from TempalteMonster http://www.templatemonster.com/prestashop-themes/50470.html  but that requires PHP and Apache.

That site provides menu structure product grid layouts etc.

Something like that but targeting Umbraco MVC, or .Net, or pure HTML 5 /CCC/JS  (and idealy more attractive graphics)  would be the ideal to minimize the amount I have to build and to help me learn best practice.

Let me know if you have any suggestions and thanks so much for your help.

    Thanks

    Terry Clancy

    Jan,

Actually, the more I look at it the more I conclude that I should first select an Umbraco compatible ECommerce solution THEN look for a sample site or Template that works with that.  From what I gather the candidate Umbraco compatible ECommerce solutions are

    Tea Commerce
    uCommerce
    uWebShop2

is this correct and do you agree ?  And do you have any recommendations as to Umbraco compatible ECommerce solutions ?  Or Tempaltes or sample sites that might work with them ?

    Hi Terry,

I would try to come with my comments on this.

Yeah you´re quite right that the candidates fo Umbraco eCommerce solutions are:

    Tea Commerce

    uCommerce

    uWebShop2

However there is a new eCommerce package in the class called Merchello, the proeject is OpenSource. You can see a pressentation about Merchello from this year Codengarden http://stream.umbraco.org/video/9920903/merchello-open-source-ecommerce-for.

If you are looking on the uCommerce, they have a demo store building on twitter bootsrap You can find the demo store here: http://www.avenue-clothing.com/, and you can if you choose the uCommerce, then you can install the demo store, and then work from there. Or you can have two instances of uCommerce, one clean, and one with the demo store, then you can see how things is done.

Tea Commerce, did also have a demo store that you could install an learn from, but I´am not sure if the demo store are responsive. http://our.umbraco.org/projects/website-utilities/tea-commerce

uWebshop2 provides also a starter kit, so again you could take the template that comes with the starter kit, and make some changes so it fits your design and needs. http://our.umbraco.org/projects/website-utilities/uwebshop2

Merchello is so new, so it´s only working with Umbraco 7 but if you see the pressentation from Codegarden you will see that they also have an example site, and without remember it 100% it´s looks like it build in twitter bootstrap or foundation. http://our.umbraco.org/projects/collaboration/merchello

Hope this information can be useful,

    /Dennis
