Unable to create new datatypes in Juno when starter kits is installed
Am I doing something wrong in Juno? On a fresh install of Juno (Alpha or Beta) with Business Starter Kit installed in the end, I can't create a new datatype. I right click on DataTypes, enters a name, click OK, and Umbraco throws an error relating to the starter kit. If no starter kit is installed there is no problem.
Which skin have you chosen and what kind of datatype are you trying to create? I have just tried installing the "simple" skin in juno beta and I can create a datatype (a checkbox list with a database datatype of ntext) without any problems.
It seems to work with the "Simple" site, but not the "Business" site. One more thing: I get errors when installing sites from the developer backend, but not during installation - see pictures below:

Error when creating new datatype when Business site is installed:
I've now been trying to install the business starter kit as well and it's also giving me some problems. For some reason the starter kit is installed, but the skin cannot be installed. Wether I'm trying from within Umbraco or during the install process (when choosing the kit from the dashboard on the content section).
When I'm trying to create a new datatype I do also get the error you describe. So I'm not in doubt that there are som serious bugs with the installer. But maybe the core team are already aware of this since this afterall is only a beta.
But maybe we should check out the issues on codeplex to see if these errors already has been reported.
I dont think the coreteam is avare of this, as I can't find any issue in codeplex that relates to this issue, and the error was also present in the Alpha release
Ok, then it would be a good thing to add I think. Are you going to do it? If so please post the link to the issue(s) in here. Then I'll for sure vote them up :-)
I just tried to recreate your problem, and I got the same error when trying to create a new data type. I tried on an installation using SQL CE 4.0 as the database, so don't know if this has something to do with it (?). Well, at least, I've given the codeplex workitem a vote as well.

...And can you perhaps post the error message either as text or a screendump...

Hi there Bo

Hi Kim
I'm experiencing it on an install using MSSQL so don't think it's DB related.
/Jan
Yeah well, okay. Then it's probably a general issue. Or at least it sounds like that.
Haven't tried with a MSSQL yet though, even though that's my preferred database.
/Kim A
The error relates to the blog package but of course the core shouldn't crash because of this! Thanks a lot for notifying us - we'll fix :-)
